Sunset @ Isla Holbosh, Mexico, 2013

Another sunset, taken on Holbosh Island, Yucatan, Mexico, in 2013.

A chill, little town, with a couple of amazing restaurants, great coffee, and even a French croissant place for breakfast (I’m biased when it comes to croissants).

We stayed at a colorful guest house, the Tribu Hostel, which had some of the most comfortable dormitories I’ve experienced in my travels. Great ambiance, with a bar, a large kitchen and lots of hamocks on the grounds and on the roof of the winding, three-story structure. It was just a block from the beach too!

We bought fresh fish and cooked it ourselves with what little condiments we could find in the ilsand’s small shops.

A great place all in all except for the mosquitos. Troves of them in the mornings and evenings. It made getting nutella crepes from a little cart vendor on the central plaza in the evening hell. But the crepes were so good that we braved clouds of the little devils to get them.

When I see pictures of great sunsets and think of warm far off places, I always forget about things like Mosquitoes.
