San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico, 2013.

After spending a month learning Spanish in Merida, Yucatan, as a Plan B alternative to hiking the PCT, we traveled back all the way to Mexico D.F. and on the way we stopped in San Cristobal de las Casas, a small town up in the High Lands of Chiapas. One of the most pleasant place we visited in Mexico, San Cristobal is a very quaint town, with loads of small eateries from all around the world, churches of various styles, from Baroque to Neoclassical, and museums to visit. Cobbled streets, a relaxed atmosphere, and cool weather (especially compared to Yucatan) made it a pleasure to roam around and discover the many things the town has to offer.
The picture above is of the esplanade of the Santo Domingo church where indigenous people living in self-regulated nearby villages come to barter and sell their  beautiful-weaved textile wares to tourists.
